The Windmill Players is an award-winning amateur dramatic group which has been based in Thornton Cleveleys for over 75 years. Our main productions are presented three times a year at Thornton Little Theatre, and range from light-hearted comedies through to plays with more challenging topics and styles. We go out into the community, for example with our annual Murder Mystery, performed in local libraries. We also support a number of charities, and we also have two volunteer teams at N-Vision who record for the talking newspaper for the blind. We proudly sponsor Tramshed, the inclusive drama group for young people. We are always keen to recruit new members, we offer opportunities in acting, directing, wardrobe, back stage, front of house or a mixture of these roles.
All of our sets are produced ‘in house’ by our team, and we have an extensive collection of props and costumes for hire, in our Costume Hire Department. Rehearsals for our main-house plays take place on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Starlight Dance School, Holly Road, Thornton. We run a Theatre Workshop on Wednesday evenings for anyone interested in learning more about acting. Our after-show meals bring together all those involved in the most recent play. We have a wide range of activities to appeal to people of all ages and interests, and we hope that after reading this you might wish to be involved, whether by becoming a member and participating in our activities, or by supporting us as an audience member or becoming a "Friend of the Windmill Players" by joining our mailing list.
